The Election Petition Tribunal has upheld the election of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State

The judgment was delivered on Tuesday, amidst tight security around the premises of the sitting.

Security had been beefed up in areas surrounding the premises of the Iyaganku Magistrate Court in Ibadan, the state capital, where the proceedings would take place.

Security officials led by the state’s Commissioner of Police, Adeleye Oyebade, cordoned off all access roads to the court, while traffic control efforts were doubled due to the diversions.

Shops around the courts were also closed down, while everyone entering the court premises including lawyers were thoroughly searched.
